In this effort Matrix Research and Engineering proposes to research and demonstrate methods for utilizing an active electronically scanned array along with an appropriate reflector to implement a radio frequency scene projector that will allow users to present various simulated targets to an aperture under test. The system builds on algorithms developed in our Phase I effort that allow us to specify the appropriate excitation of the transmit array such that after reflection, the field at the receiver array simulates multiple targets that appear to be located far from the target. This technique will allow for the construction of a compact chamber that will facilitate hardware-in-the-loop testing of radars and seekers. The reflector used in the chamber provides a relatively large field of view but requires a small transmit array to simulate a variety of targets simultaneously. BENEFITS: When completed, this research will result in a cost effective system that will allow hardware-in-the-loop assessment of countermeasures systems radar and seeker performance. The proposed system will be able to emulate complex scenarios of a multi-target environment. The final system will be invaluable in assessment of seeker performance as well as missile warning systems.
