Abstract

Today, organizations come to depend more heavily on rapid and accurate communication and understanding of complex ideas, plans, and high-quality analyses. Poorly represented information may lead to decisions with disastrous consequences. The Intelligent Models proposes to develop the Mixed Strategic Interactive Narration and Presentation Tool (SINAPT) -- a software environment to help better represent and more rapidly and accurately transfer novel and complex ideas and plans within and between organizations and between minds. The goal of SINAPT is to provide intelligence analysts and military planners with a dramatically enhanced ability to create and present compelling, rigorous briefings streamlined to maximize understanding and retention by audiences. SINAPT capitalizes on advances in cognitive neuroscience, psycho-linguistics, and digitized knowledge management, in order to help create audience-tailored presentations that link the new concepts and ideas with past experiences and mental representations of the audience. SINAPT achieves this by analyzing audience's semantic profiles to reverse-engineer audience's perceptual filters, high-priority motivations, relevant and familiar contexts, and recurrent logical frames of reasoning. It automates assessment of receptiveness, understanding, and retention by the target audience of the specific ideas presented in a specific way; and helps identify and remove or by-pass roadblocks to effective communication.
