Abstract

As miniature, radiofrequency (RF) transceivers grow in widespread use and capability, their deliberate or inadvertent infiltration into secure areas poses a growing threat to national security. Manual searches and metal detectors at checkpoints are at best inefficient and generally ineffective at detecting hidden radio transceivers. Invertix s Ferret technology promises to detect these hidden transceivers with high reliability and low false alarm rate, at ranges consistent with a wide range of commercial and military applications. In the proposed Phase II effort, Invertix will develop a system using Ferret technology for close-range applications, resulting in a prototype, walk-through transceiver detector. The prototype system will be evaluated in a relevant environment against key requirements including operating characteristics, size, cost and safety.
