Abstract

A compact and lightweight stabilized free space optical communication system with Micro Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS) - based adaptive optics is proposed. The system's unique optoelectronics architecture provides high output power and signal to noise ratio for ultra-long range high speed communication links. Carbon-fiber composite construction, high torque density precision drive design, and stabilization performance allow the system to be used on small Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV's) and other mobile platforms.
