Abstract

We are developing a technology that embeds optical transceivers within backplane connectors. The goal is increase the bandwidth-density available in backplane (or board-to-board) connectors. The optical channels will operate at data rates of 10 Gbps on a 250 micron pitch. The first target application is a stackable PCB connectors for PCI Express data communications within missile applications.
