Abstract

This program addresses the Special Operations need for a cost effective wind Lidar system enabling efficient delivery of psychological warfare material. Our approach involves the design, development and field demonstration of an all fiber transceiver allowing for the mapping of wind fields. The advantages of our approach include: All Fiber based design resulting in a power efficient system, Modular design allowing for the power distribution the transceiver and the scanner to be located in several parts of the UAV, Compatibility with other functionality such as Obstacle Avoidance. The primary objective for this effort is to refine the design of the wind lidar system and to integrate the receiver and transmitter and demonstrate the concept.
