Abstract

Saraswati Associates has demonstrated feasibility of an innovative photonic wavelength routed Multi-channel Photonic Programmable Time Delay Unit that can allow disruptive advances in the radar processing equipment. It may enable architectures that improve search performance and eliminate major functional elements from the radar processing electronics, such as the Butler matrix. It may also allow a viable migration path to high speed digital beamforming. In Phase I, Saraswati constructed a laboratory unit to demonstrate the basic operating principle.
