Abstract

Missile defense commanders and staffs must be prepared to respond to cyber attacks, physical attacks, natural disasters, and system failures that affect weapons system components, C2BMC, or the C4I infrastructure. During the critical engagement phase of battle, the battle management team may have only a few seconds or minutes to respond appropriately. Disaster Response and Continuity of Operations Plans, rehearsals, battle drills, and wargames are the best way to ensure rapid and appropriate response. The Disaster Avoidance and Recovery Rehearsal Tool (DARRT) provides an urgently needed accurate, easy to use continuity of operations and disaster recovery and rehearsal tool to enable commanders and staffs to visualize, plan and rehearse the most likely and most dangerous C2BMC and C4I disaster scenarios before they actually occur. During Phase II, ISAC will develop and demonstrate a full-featured DARRT prototype that provides MDA with the capability to visualize and rehearse 15 disaster scenarios in four major categories: cyber attacks, physical attacks, natural disasters and systems failures.
