The Metal Storm Crowd Control (MSCC) System has the potential to inhibit fatalities while still neutralizing select individual(s) due to its ability to compensate for range variations and target characteristics. Currently in our military personnel in Iraq and looting, civil riots interspersed with armed individuals, and other crime suppression activities. Our only response today is with lethal weapons, or relatively small less-than-lethal armed response capability. The objective of this project is to develop and fabricate specific less-than-lethal rounds capable of being fired from the demonstrated Metal Storm weapons system in a variety of configurations, including a UGV mounted capability. Our approach is based on the Phase I design criteria and follow-on internal research and development programs which have already demonstrated the Metal Storm launcher system on UGV platforms. The original intent of a Phase II program was to demonstrate this capability, but since we have already achieved the integration of the weapon and vehicle, our proposal now will concentrate on the development of a variety of LTL projectiles in concert with selected LTL manufacturers.
