Abstract

Small-volume, light-weight and low-cost integration of phased-array antenna requires paradigm shift in design strategy. This phase II implementation is based on the feasibility study report that was performed during SBIR Phase I. Phase II implementation will address manufacturing OF RF components and antenna array to address prototypes of beamforming module. Focus of the implementation is on design, manufacturing and characterization of RF feednetwork, power supply and ground distribution networks as well as the antenna array. Emphasis will be on reduction of components by combining desired performance features, and integrating large number of antenna elements on a compact substrate. Beamforming objectives will be addressed at optimum power dissipation. It is the objective of this Phase II implementation to develop designs to be used for an entire wafer-scale integration of phased-array antenna electronics.
