Abstract

Phase I work was targeted at investigation of a meteorological sensing package for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Much of this work was based upon operational experience gained during Cloud Cap Technology s involvement with numerous meteorological experiments which involved the use of small UAVs. The goal in phase I was to design a small, low cost meteorological quality sensor package that could be rapidly integrated with a variety of different host vehicles. The basic sensing package provides: pressure, temperature, humidity (PTU) and winds; options for vehicle hosted or stand alone data links; and a flexible external interface to support other sensors.
