Abstract

Under the Phase I effort, we developed a design for a GPS Simulator and Phase Calibration System (SIMCAL) and demonstrated its performance at the 46th Test Wing for calibrating a kinematic GPS (KGPS) signal generator test setup. Under the Phase II effort we propose to build and deliver a SIMCAL system with a built-in calibration mode to allow single-step calibration of multiple RF/SV channel pairs configured for KGPS and wavefront simulation purposes. We will also provide the software and firmware upgrades to the SIMCAL system to allow it to be used for wavefront simulation of GPS satellite and jammer waveforms. A real-time interface will also be developed for the SIMCAL system to allow it to be used for hardware-in-the-loop GPS testing. This will allow the SIMCAL system to be used for testing GPS anti-jam receiver configurations that require wavefront simulation (e.g. those using CRPAs) to emulate their real-time operation in a guidance and control configuration. A test report will be delivered on conclusion of this project describing the SIMCAL system operation and performance test results.
