Vexcel Corporation proposes using RFTag technology to set up an automatic truthing capability for FOPEN SAR imagery, to support algorithm testing in AFRL FOPEN ATD programs. Our approach obeys the following three "Golden Rules": 1. The system shall automatically localize and identify cooperative targets in a SAR scene; 2. The system shall not corrupt or significantly modify the ordinary SAR signal; 3. No modifications to the SAR sensor hardware or normal IFP shall be required. Our solution to the automatic truth markup problem involves the design and development of three components: 1. TruthTag hardware, for installation on targets or as fiducial markers, potentially carrying metadata. 2. Image processing software to extract the TruthTag signal from SAR VPH (the image is extracted using the standard IFP, as per Golden Rule 2). 3. An image processing and visualization toolkit based on OpenEV, an OpenSource image processing system, to support the automatic ingest and manipulation of truth generated using the Truthquest system.
