Abstract

In Ph I SDG and Aerojet collaborated to: - Work with several missle prime contractors and develop a overall rocket motor performance spec for a pintle controlled motor aimed at a family of missiles in the class of AFSS and Modernized Hellfire - Develop a preliminary drawing of the pintle nozzle and actuator assembly - Derive an actuator spec for use in the pintle system - Develop a preliminary layout and costed BOM for a miniaturized actuator that could be sold at very low cost in production In Ph II our team will: - Develop a detailed layout of the pintle nozzle and entire rocket motor costing approximately the same as a conventional motor having no active pressure control - Fabricate prototype quantities of an actuator that can be sold at very low cost in production. - Perform HIL testing of the motor and deliver the HIL test capability to AMCOM - Demonstrate the actuator and pintle/nozzle in 1 test firings at AMCOM In Ph III our team provides a path to production as follows: - SDG will transfer the actuator design to Versatron for production - Aerojet will manufacture the pintle motor and integrate the actuator into the system
