Abstract

A general purpose high performance, high shock data recorder with nonvolatile memory will be constructed in a volume less than 1 cubic inch including battery. Flash and nvRAM will be used as interim nonvolatile memory for the data recorder with reduced performance until the 256K MRAM component, which meets all the requirements of the high shock recorder, is completed. Recorder designs using the three nonvolatile memory components mentioned will be completed during this program and proof of principal models tested. Data will be erased and re-written in all locations a minimum of 25 times. Shock tests will be performed at Alliant Tech's facility to acquire shock data with the recorder and verify the accuracy and survivability of the recorder and data. A simple PC interface will be used to configure and retrieve the data from the recorder. After verification of the proof of principal models, 10 - 8 channel recorders with nonvolatile memory will be built for field evaluation. An MRAM component will be designed and developed for the recorder concurrently with the recorder development based on a 32K x 8 design developed for Eglin AFB. Ten MRAM components will be fabricated to meet the needs of the recorders.
