Abstract

The US Army's stated need is to develop a Binocular Simulator for the CCTT. The CCTT is the first in a family of interoperable simulators for training a combined arms force in a real-time synthetic environment. The focus of the CCTT is sustainment training for collective tasks and skills in command, control, communication, and maneuver. Diamond Visionics Company (DVC) proposed in a Phase I SBIR a feasibility study and a technology concept for implementing a Video Transmission/Reception system interfacing to a Micro-Display. This system will be capable of being formed into a hand-held system, which is Wireless & Cableless. In Phase I DVC designed, constructed, and demonstrated a monocular non-hand-held technology demonstration system using State-of-the-Art technology. Phase II will be the development of the Prototype Binocular system, centered on the packaging and the power aspects for hand-held and wireless operation. Phase FI will result in one deliverable system to be tested on site and approved for manufacture. BENEFITS:The resulting product will be a wireless, compact, and efficient means of transmitting, receiving and displaying wide bandwidth video. The application to wireless and cableless Binoculars, Helmet Mounted Displays (HMD's) for military training, the gaming market, and video security systems is obvious, and such means of wireless high resolution display has been long awaited in both the military and the commercial markets.
