Abstract

The development of modern weapon systems requires complex dynamic subsystems that must be coherently developed and integrated. The Reconfigurable Avionics Modeling & Simulation Station (RAMSS) provides the builidng blocks for developing models and simulations of complex subsystems and systems. Early system development requires a station that will allow core algorithm development and Interface Control Document (ICD) verification and development. This same station must support immersing the algorithms and ICD into a real-time dynamic environment. Integration problems found during flight test can be quite difficult and costly to isolate and repair, with RAMSS many traditional flight test scenarios can be "FLOWN" earlier in the integration process. RAMSS will allow dissimilar subsystem developers to send "virtual" or "soft" subsystems to user facilities for early system verification and integration. This will allow all participating organizations to work from a common algorithm and communications baseline.
