EPPI proposes to develop a cascaded Flux Compression Generator (FCG) pulser system that meets the Armament Directorate's (WL/MN) requirements for size and performance. The compact FCG and seed sources already developed during Phase I of the SBIR will be used to provide the initial current to the next stages, the intermediate and output FCGs. The current is amplified by the next two FCG stages. The intermediate and output FCGs will be designed and built in the Phase II effort. The FCG developed in Phase I will be modified, if necessary, to increase the electrical energy output to the level required for the intermediate FCG. The intermediate FCG is a new EPPI FCG design effort that is part of the Phase II and builds upon the knowledge gained in the Phase I effort. The intermediate FCG is connected to the output FCG, called the Jemez. The Jemez is a new FCG design of EPPI that will use new explosive manufacturing techniques to significantly decrease the overall system cost. EPPI will subcontract to a University operated facility for the high explosives.
