Abstract

The objectives of this project are to 1) Develop optimized radiation shielding methods for multi-funciton structures (MFS) with integrated electronics, and 2) Demonstrate that significant weight savings are possible in a flight experiment package. Electronics shielding weight savings of 25-30 percent are possible for Air Force spacecraft using composite materials with integrated high-Z shielding instead of aliminum boxes and skin.
