Abstract

This SBIR project proposes developing and transitioning a design environment where system designers at diverse locations are networked together performing on a common engineering project. The process is called Collaborative Virtual Prototyping (CVP), and it is based on the System Engineering Toolset developed under the DARPA rapid prototyping project. In phase I, the SBIR team demonstrated a prototype CVP toolset for system engineering, design and project management in a network environment. The toolset integrates team tools with a decision support system with real time displays of project status in achieving goals and objectives. Other innovations include new capabilities for integrated project teams (IPT) work group collaboration with tool sharing by team members. In Phase II the project will continue tool development and start beta testing by NAVAIR IPTs. In Phase III, the project wil transition to use of the CVP networks by diverse NAVAIR integrated product teams and will be commercialized to other DoD organizations and commercial businesses.
