Abstract

SDL proposes to develop a compact blue laser source with single spatial-mode output power exceeding 10 mW at a wavelength near 420-490 nm. In phase I, SDL demonstrated the feasiblity of compact blue laser source using frequency conversion of high power laser diodes. The proposed blue laser source has enormous advantages over existing sources in terms of cost, size, and efficiency and can replace them in several existing applications while enabling the development of new commercial markets. The blue laser source is scalable to higher power levels and other wavelengths for many different applications.
