Abstract

Computer programs for electromagnetic analysis belong to a large class of simulation programs that were developed to model physical systems. Significant improvement in the overall utility of electromagnetic analysis and other physical simulation programs can be achieved with the application of modern graphics and visualization techniques. We have demonstrated the feasibility of applying visualization technology to an electromagnetic analysis program. The task of modeling complicated structures is greatly simplified with the use of advanced Computer Aided Design software. We have also demonstrated that visualization hardware and software provide an efficient means for displaying quantities such as electromagnetic fields, antenna radiation patterns and surface currents. We propose to develop a generic visualization system for electromagnetic codes. We also propose to design the visualization system with sufficient flexibility to operate with a variety of physical simulation programs. In this way its applicability will be extended to several areas of industrial and government research and development and to the education field.
