Military operations in urban terrain (MOUT) are posing unprecedented training challenges for small infantry units. We propose to build RADIX: Rapid Authoring of Demonstrations for Infantry Experience. We will lay the foundations for this work by conducting a survey of literature on demonstrations as an instructional strategy, and synthesize the results into instructional guidelines for Army training tasks with the aid of our subject matter expert. Stottler Henke Associates' extensive experience in training will provide a basis for decisions on the employment of Virtual Reality, SAF, commercial game technology and other technology as appropriate. The resulting system architecture design will support rapid authoring of scenarios, software- and user-driven agents, playback from a variety of points of view, and rapid constructions of visual demonstrations.
