Sonalysts is teamed with the University of Maryland School of Medicine and Side F/X Studios to develop and demonstrate a proof-of-concept for an accurate, low-cost, manikin-based system providing psychomotor skills training to medical providers in the performance of the Lateral Canthotomy and Cantholysis (LCC) procedure, a method for preserving eyesight. The intended audience of the trainer will be medical providers ranging from 18D Medical Sergeants to Emergency Medical Physicians and Ophthalmologists. The Sonalysts team will develop the proof-of-concept (an estimated two full head/eye models) with a sufficient number of the replaceable components to support hands-on testing and evaluation of the scientific, technical, and commercial merit of the design. Feasibility of this Ichabod LLC training system concept will be demonstrated. The demonstration of the Ichabod LLC training system will be held at Fort Sam Houston at the 5 month mark for review and feedback. The technical risks associated with the design of the Ichabod system will be presented at the demonstration, as well as mitigation strategies to ensure the resulting design meets the needs and fills the training void in the current U.S. Army pre-deployment training program.
