Abstract

Oceanit proposes to develop inorganic colloidal quantum dots in the visible wavelength range as the fluorescent penetrant for nondestructive examination of surface flaws, in particular of cracks in stress corroded pits of bore evacuator holes of gun tubes. The nondestructive examination of cracks will be demonstrated by the fluorescent indications of the penetrant probed via a suitable laser or an LED source. The ability to detect micron size cracks and quantify their depth by the intensity of the emission will be demonstrated.
