MICROS (Miniature Integrated Circuits Reporting Overall Status) is a system of miniature, wearable sensors with the ultimate goal that the sensor modules are sufficiently small and low-power that they can derive all their power needs from energy harvested from the human body. The MICROS product path will have a product to market for monitoring multiple physiologic signals and derived parameters within the STTR framework. MICROS leverages the best available state of the art technology to provide the optimum tradeoff between function, small size and ability to rapidly develop with de-risked enabling technology. MICROS provides a wearable form factor by combining a custom integrated circuit (IC) with a comfortable, flexible substrate and non-contact (dry) electrodes. The system can measure low level current signals as well as corresponding voltage signals and is applicable to EEG, ECG, galvanic skin response and other biosignals.In addition to improved signal to noise ratio over current systems, the IC is easily expanded to integrate a wireless radio directly on-chip to support data transmission to a nearby receiver, and the low-power CMOS process and energy-conserving design enables a system solution that integrates energy harvesting to extend battery life without requiring a large on-board battery.
