Abstract

Poseidon Systems, in collaboration with Rochester Institute of Technology proposes to develop and demonstrate a novel system for estimating vehicle gross weight and center-of-gravity (W&CG). The proposed system uses a set of low cost sensing elements in combination with physics-based kinematic relationships to determine W&CG of a vehicle platform. No vehicle-specific design information are utilized in the system allowing for deployment across a wide variety of platforms. The solution is minimally intrusive, low cost, and easy to deploy. Existing vehicle data buses are used to provide results for display to the vehicle operator.
