Abstract

CRG proposes to develop a low-cost, multifunctional thermal protection material system based on CRG?s high-temperature MG resin systems. The unique features of these materials will allow for thermal protection, combined with structural contribution, and electrical protection properties integral to the material system. CRG?s MG material platform is a lightweight composite system that combines a non-flammable thermal barrier resin with fiber reinforcements and other additives for structural performance, and conducting pathways integral to the material system for electrostatic discharge (ESD), electromagnetic interference (EMI), and lightning strike protection. The unique chemistry and processing traits of MG also make it lower cost than alternative materials and systems. The MG platform presents a new paradigm in thermal protection design that includes multi-functionality, ease in processing, and low cost. (Approved for Public Release 15-MDA-8482 (17 November 15))
