Abstract

FEASIBILITY OF A BROADBAND (10%) INSULAR CROSS-BAR MIXER WAS ESTABLISHED DURING PHASE I RESEARCH. THIS MIXER WILL BE INCORPORATED IN A COMPLETE INSULAR INTEGRATED FM-CW TRANSCEIVER OPERATING IN V-BAND NEAR 60 GHz. THIS TRANSCEIVER, INCORPORATES A VOLTAGE CONTROLLED (VARACTOR TUNED) GUNN OSCILLATOR, ISOLATOR, L.O. COUPLER, DUPLEX CIRCULATOR, BALANCED CROSS-BAR MIXER AND LOW NOISE PREAMPLIFIER. THE FIRST PART OF THE PHASE II RESEARCH WILL DEVELOP THE INDIVIDUAL COMPONENTS AND THE PROTOTYPE TRANSCEIVER. THE SECOND PART WILL DEMONSTRATE THE PRODUCIBILITY AND LOW COST OF THE TRANSCEIVER. THE SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE TRANSCEIVER WILL BE GENERIC BUT DIRECTED AT CERTAIN TACTICAL MUNITIONS APPLICATIONS AS WELL AS O.E.M. INDUSTRIAL REQUIREMENTS.
