Abstract

THIS PHASE INVOLVES THE DETAILED DESIGN AND TESTING OF A CONSOLIDATED INTELLIGENT CONTROL UNIT (CU) FOR THE CONTROL OF ROBOTIC COMBAT VEHICLES (RCVs) FROM A SINGLE CONTROL CENTER (RCC). THIS FAULT-TOLERANT SOLDIER-MACHINE INTERFACE INVOLVES AN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT CONTROL AND DISPLAY SYSTEM FROM THE CONVENTIONAL APPROACH TO CONTROL UNITS. SOFTWARE PACKAGES TO BE COMPLETED ARE CAPABLE OF INTEGRATING HARDWARE AND HUMAN RELIABILITY FOR ANALYSIS OF COMPLEX SYSTEMS AND MISSIONS INVOLVING HIGH STRESS AND WORKLOAD.
