Abstract

This effort proposes to determine the feasibility of and continue development of innovative 3-D inverse synthetic aperture radar (ISAR) imaging techniques for maritime vessels. Traditionally, 2-D ISAR image frames have been used individually to classify vessels of similar classes with limited success. The knowledge of the 3-D positions of the scatterers on these types of vessels can significantly improved discrimination between them.
