Abstract

The goal of this Phase I research is to demonstrate a scaleable pulse power modulator circuit with a resistive load, meeting scaleable voltage, current and peak power requirements for high power radio frequency (HPRF) source. Gallium Arsenide (GaAs) based high gain Photoconductive Semiconductor Switches (PCSS) will be used for this demonstration. The Phase I demonstration will be limited to 10-100 Hz for a few seconds at varying pulse widths. Based on the results of Phase I demonstration, design and modeling of key elements for compact, repetitive, pulsed power driver to meet Navy s requirements will be pursued in Phase II.
