Abstract

Monitoring of mosquitoes activity is needed for population control. Monitoring methods and tools that can be effectively used in the field, are essential for this purpose. Some of these tools are cumbersome and difficult to operate and control. Carbon dioxide, a known attractant in mosquito traps,is available as dry ice, in compressed heavy cylinders and through propane combustion. The purpose of this project is to determine if a compact, lightweight, battery-operated electrochemical CO2 generator, can be effectively used in the field for mosquito surveillance.
